Rainbow Lorikeets AVIARY

In store we have a variety of aviary Rainbow Lorikeets available ! 

At the moment we have a pair available around 3 years old, as well as four unsexed, 6-month-old lorikeets. The only way to sex these birds is DNA, this can be done through your local vet.

The rainbow lorikeet is a medium-sized species of parrot found in Australia, they can grow up to 30cm in length and 75-157gm in weight. Rainbow lorikeets are sweet, affectionate birds that are known for their comical antics and friendly personalities. In general, these birds are friendly, easy to socialize, and beautiful birds. They can be perfect additions to an aviary !

Rainbow lorikeets are excellent talkers, and they can learn to say many words and phrases. They are noisy birds and have a high-pitched tone with frequent squawks.

Lorikeets are hardy birds with a lifespan of up to 20 to 25 years.  As with all birds, the key to their health is ensuring good hygiene practices with the aviary and providing a healthy and varied diet.

Your lorikeet should be fed a good quality nectar blend, (a variety of wet and dry options are available in store.) Along with a small serving dish of fruit salad daily! Some fruits they enjoy are apples, pears, mangos, oranges, melons, grapes, paw paw and tangerine ! You can also provide your lorikeet with veggies such as bok choy, peas, asparagus, corn, cucumber, kale, broccoli, parsnip, or zucchini. You can offer your bird native eucalypt, bottle brush or grevilia flowers as well to not only give them some enriching snacks, but also to brighten up their cage and keep them occupied.

Lorikeets are also especially fond of water, so it is beneficial for them to be supplied with a bowl big enough to bathe in !
